Lukas and the Petals

Lukas and the Petals

Tonight we took a walk in the evening light. It was silvery and bizarre and rather like that light in the alps that made everything shimmery. Lukas decided not to go in his stroller so we carried him and he did a little walking, which I am sure will now become a trend. In front of Drew’s house he wanted to sit down so I set him down on the sidewalk which was littered with beautiful pink petals and red and gold leaves from the tree above. (When I was in labor with him and wandering around the neighborhood, we also stopped here for a major contraction.) He looked over at her house and pointed. We go here a lot—and just last week she witnessed meltdowns from both of us and then made it all better. This house, and the people in it, are amazing. I love that there are good friends right within walking distance in our town and that we actually go to each other’s houses to talk or walk somewhere else together. There is something about spontaneous friendship that is quite wonderful.
