nettles, turnips and seedlings oh my

March 16, 2011

planting spinach at home

Another great adventure to green string farm. We procure our usual stash of greens, broccoli, turnips, beets and squashes, but this time we are also able to add nettles, miners’ lettuce, cabbage flowers and seedlings for spinach and strawberries. (All for $11!!!) The canned goods on the shelves inside look tempting… Lukas really wants to load up on the seedlings but we keep it conservative since it’s only March. He can’t wait to plant his little spinaches when we arrive home and hops right into the garden bed and starts digging. It’s the first time he’s actually dug a real hole and planted something in it on his own so we are very proud of him!
