boys and berries

It is boysenberry day. Lukas and I head up to Kokopelli Farm to see our friend Shepherd who has a boysenberry farm (and chickens). I arrange to have them picked ahead of time, because, with a three year old, picking them ourselves would be like the fate of the raspberries a few weeks ago—mostly eaten! We enjoy walking around and meeting the chickens and bees and seeing Shepherd again. I can’t even tell you how delicious these berries are. Last year we froze many of them and had them as little popsicles all summer and on our cereal in the morning. So far, this year, we are eating them fresh and last night, we brought a few baskets to Heidi and Steve’s Fourth of July dinner for eating with ice cream afterwards. If you are interested in your own flat of berries, let me know and I’ll give you Shepherd’s number. Such a treat!
