Delgold tobacco leaf drying in the sun

basil bouquet

friendly calendulas

I finally cut a bunch of leaves from the tobacco plants. I can’t believe how tall these things get after just a few months! The leaves are huge and after a few hours in the sun, were pretty dry already. Next time I might just hang them on the clothesline. So I am winging it here, but you are supposed to dry them, them cure them. I think Scott’s office might be the perfect curing environment since the temperature will be fairly constant in there. We shall see! So after a year of curing, we can try it and then every year after that we’ll keep trying it. It is supposed to take 5 years for optimum curing, as I said last week.

Also harvested a bunch of basil and some more calendula to make into salves and bug repellant once I have enough. And the gourds are really growing so we should have a bunch of fun projects in the Fall!
